Fumigation of Grain with Phosphine

The most effective and economic method used to prevent grain damage and to maintain grain quality and quantity is fumigation. Phosphine is the most commonly used fumigant gas, and this course is designed to promote the responsible, safe and effective use of this product, ensuring that insect resistance to phosphine is minimised by quality fumigation practices.

The Phosphine course is run over one day, and involves: insect identidication; how to ensure grain storage is gas tight; calculation of dose rates, and how to comply with the OH&S requirements when applying the chemical. This course is also recognised as an ‘update’ program for the AgVet Chemical users Course.
